Advice to Women Who Have Memorized the Qur’aan

Posted in Advice, Knowledge, Seeking Knowledge with tags , , , , , , , on March 17, 2008 by fearthedunya

“And We have indeed made the Qur’aan easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?”[al-Qamar 54:22]

O sister who has memorized the Qur’aan, congratulations! Allaah has used you to preserve His Book on earth. You are one of those through whom Allaah has kept the promise He made when He said (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily We: it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e., the Qur’aan) and surely, We will guard it.” [al-Hijr 15:9]

O sister who has memorized the Qur’aan, do not underestimate the worth of what you have done. What is in your heart is knowledge. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Nay, but they, the clear aayaat, are preserved in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge…” [al-‘Ankaboot 29:49]

In your heart is a Book which cannot be washed away with water. It was said in the sacred Scriptures concerning this ummah that “their gospel is in their hearts.”

To Do List for the Mu’min (Believer)

Posted in Advice, Knowledge, Reminders with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 17, 2008 by fearthedunya

1. Succesful indeed are the believers.

2. Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with full solemnity and full submissiveness.

3.  And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Allah has forbidden).

4. And those who pay the Zakat.

5.  And those who guard their chastity (i.e private parts, from illegal sexual acts)

6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame;

7. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors;

8. Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all that duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility, and trusts etc.) and to their covenants;

9. And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours).

10. These are indeed the inheritors.

Damaaj: “From the Lighthouses of Islam”

Shaykh Rabee’ Ibn Hadee Al-Madkhalee was asked on the 23rd of Ramadan 1424:

What is your opinion of going to study at Daarul Hadith at Damaaj, Yemen, knowing that I am a new student?

The Imam answered by saying:

“Indeed it is befitting that you journey to this strong hold from the strong holds of Islaam, to this lighthouse from the lighthouses of Islaam. shading_lightingfinal.jpgIndeed journey should be made to it and the knowledge should be sought there. He (the student of knowledge) will find – inshAllah – much good there and he will find the Sunnah and guidance and he will find there adherence to the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). By Allah, we encourage studying at this abode which is from the strong holds and lighthouses of the Sunnah. In it – inshAllah – are people of the Sunnah and guidance and knowledge, we ask Allah that He keeps them firm on the Sunnah and that He bring about benefit by them and that he make them from among those who carry the banner of Sunnah, in this time period in which innovations have accumulated and trials have evolved. We seek refuge in Allaah.

So all praise are due to Allaah so whoever wants good and wants guidance and whoever wants to be far away from tribulations, he must cling to the strongholds of Sunnah – all praise are due to Allaah – they are numerous in many countries and in particular this strong hold which I see in it clear distinction and all praise are due to Allaah to make it go smooth for the one who strives to it seeking the guidance from its sources and seeking an enlightenment from the Sunnah and good that is there.”

Pondering the meanings of the Qur’aan

Posted in education, General, Knowledge, Reminders with tags , , , , , , , , , on March 15, 2008 by fearthedunya

The Companions of the Prophet (SAW) recited the Qur’aan and pondered its meaning and were moved by it. ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became ill after reciting the words of Allah:

7. Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass,

8. There is none that can avert it;

[Al-Tur (52): 7-8]

His sobs could be heard from the back of the congregation when he recited Allah’s words about Ya’qub (peace be upon him):

86. He said, “I only complain of my grief and my sorrow to Allah and I know from Allah that which you know not.”

[Yusuf (12): 86]

Even when they prostrated as required when reading Qur’aan (sajdaat al-tilaawah – prostrations required when reciting certain aayaat of the Qur’aan), they reacted in different ways. One of them was the man – may Allah have mercy on him – who when he read the aayah,

109. And they fall down on their faces weeping and it adds to their humility

[al-Isra’ (17): 109]

Prostrated as required, then he rebuked himself by saying:

This is the prostration, but where’s the weeping?

Brief Description of Dammaaj, Yemen

As-Salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaah wa barakaatuh.

Dammaaj is the birthplace of the Reviver of the Sunnah, the Great Scholar Muqbil ibn Haadee Al-Waadi’ee. The Sheikh set up an institute of knowledge that by Allaah’s will has changed the face of Yemen. Before the da’wah of the Sheikh Yemen was plagued by tashayyu’ in the north and tasawwuf in the south and hizbiyyah.

Now by Allaah’s grace the da’wah of Ahlus-Sunnah can be found in all parts in Yemen, stronger in some areas than others. The institute in Dammaaj started as a small masjid made of mud then as the students numbers grew a bigger masjid was built adjacent to the Sheikh’s house then later a bigger masjid was built which is today the library then an even bigger masjid was built and now that masjid has just been expanded. The latest masjid is very big and is active day and night with classes and students memorizing Qur’aan and hadeeth and at night time some of the single students sleep in the masjid.

Why are they crying?

Posted in Knowledge, Reminders, Seeking Knowledge with tags , , on November 6, 2007 by fearthedunya

[courtesy of Br. Rami]

This the story of two young men – both crying out of true sincerity.

A young man at a soccer stadium is shedding into tears and despair as his team was beaten and performed terribly. He can recollect every painful goal…shooting forth dismay and uncontrollable tears. As those around him try to comfort his loss, he pushes them away. He cannot be consoled by anything; even his tears cannot bring joy to a heart so damaged by a loss of his favorite team.

A young man hears the dua of the worshippers near him at the foot of the Kaab’a. Their cries and pleas for Allah’s mercy and help; the mother asking for a cure for her baby daughter, the son seeking forgiveness for the things he said to his father before he lost him, the old man seeking only to be buried there with the prophets and righteous before him.

The young man finishes his last leg of a journey in memorizing the Qur’an. His teacher waits patiently for him to recite the final words, but how can he?
