Bismillahir Rahmaanir Rahiim

One kind act may seem so small but move a heart or make such a difference to an individual. When we work collectively to put those single acts together, something much larger and greater emerges, and great change can occur.

What is Salafiyyah?

Question: What Is Salafiyyah?

Answer: Salafiyyah is following the way of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) and his Sahabah for they are our Salaf (predecessors) who preceded us, so following them is Salafiyyah. As for taking Salafiyyah as a special Manhaj (Methodology) such that everyone who differs with it is considered astray even if he was on the truth; then this is beyond doubt opposite to Salafiyyah.

All the Salaf called to Islaam and to unite upon the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) and they did not declare astray anyone who differs with them (in a certain issue) because of (a different) interpretation (Taweel), except in matters of Aqeedah (beliefs) because they considered him, who differed in Aqeedah as astray.
But, in our time, some who took the path of Salafiyyah consider astray everyone who differs from them even if the truth were to be on his side. And they took a Hizbi (partisan) Manhaj, just like the other Hizbs (parties), who divide the religion. This (their way) must be rejected and not be approved of.

Proper Manner of Answering the Telephone

What follows is beneficial knowledge from AshShaykh Al’Allaamah AlAlbaanee (rahimahullaah) transmitted by way of his student Shaykh Saalih bin Taha Abu Islaam (hafidhahullaah) in his book entitled, (what translated means) Al’aqeedah first, if they but only knew (Vol 1, pgs. 16-17), wherein he (Abu Islaam) said,

“He called me rahimahullaah (meaning AshShaykh AlAlbaanee) one day by telephone, but I was not there. My young daughter, upon answering the telephone, said, “Assalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullaah” . The Shaykh asked for me and then said to her, “Inform your father that Muhammad Naasiriddeen AlAlbaanee called”. (He did not say ‘AshShaykh’ . . . and this is from his humbleness, may Allaah raise his rank in Aljannah)”.

Imitating the Disbelievers – Imam Ad-Dhahabi

“O miserable one! Where is your intellect taking you? How far will you flee from following the Sunnah of your Prophet, Muhammad, salla’Allahu alahi wa salam, to enacting the manifest signs of your enemies?

How far [have these people] fled from traversing the Straight Path and how close they have come to the way of the misguided devils! [For example] when you perform an action of worship, you [soon] flee from it, looking left and right for a place of refuge! When you traverse the path of knowledge you preoccupy yourself with finding loopholes and concessions under the pretext, ‘we are performing taqlid of the Imams” (p.30)

“How can you bring yourself to imitate a people… who are but fuel for the fire?!

“If it was said to you, ‘imitate an object of ridicule, a laughing stock’, you would surely scorn this and become angry. How is it then that you imitate the uncircumcised worshipper of the cross in his celebrations? How is it that you dress your children with new clothes and inculcate a sense of joy in them? How is it that you decorate eggs for them, buy incense and celebrate the festival of your enemy in the same fashion as you would celebrate the ‘eid legislated by your Prophet, sall’Allahu alaihi wa salam?

Where would such a practice take you except to the anger of Allah and His Displeasure? Provided, He does not forgive you that is, and provided that you know that your Prophet Muhammad, sall’Allahu alaihi wa salam, used to encourage differing from the People of the Book in everything that was specific to them” (p.10)

– Excerpts from “Imitating the Disbelievers” by Imam Adh-Dhahabi (d.748H) by Dar-us-Sunnah Publishers

Now imagine dear brothers and sisters, if the censure coming from this scholar was this severe regarding imitating the kufaar nearly seven hundred years ago, how much more relevant is his advice today?

Wa’Allahu Musta’aan

“You will surely follow the ways of those who came before you, in exactly the same fashion, to the point that were they to enter the hole of a lizard, you too would enter it.’ It was asked of him, ‘O Messenger of Allah! Do you mean the Jews and Christians?’ He replied, ‘who else’?” [Bukhari & Muslim]

Ibn Al-Qayyim on Gender Mixing (Ikhtilaat)

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

There is no doubt that enabling women to mix with men is the basis of all calamities and evils, and it is one of the greatest causes of calamity that affects everybody, as well as being one of the causes of corruption in public and private affairs. Mixing of men with women is the cause of a great deal of immoral actions and zina, and it is one of the causes of widespread death and ongoing plagues.
